BILATERAL PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENTS SIGNED

MP Sattar Mehbaliyev, the President of the Republican Committee of Independent Trade Union of Azerbaijan Education Employees (ITUAEE), received the delegations of the Teachers' Union of Serbia, Malta Union of Teachers, the Federation of Lithuanian Education and Science Trade Unions and Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of the Kyrgyz Republic on October 11, 2012. The delegations are visiting Azerbaijan to attend the 16th reporting-election conference of ITUAEE.

Upon welcoming the guests, Mr. Mehbaliyev expressed his gratitude for accepting his invitation to visit Azerbaijan and attend ITUAEE's 16th General Conference. He gave comprehensive information to the guests about the activities of trade unions in Azerbaijan. He noted that the favorable conditions created by the leadership of the country ensures sustainable development of trade unions.

Speaking about the successful education policy of Azerbaijan, Mr. Mehbaliyev noted that new schools are built in the country every year and all favorable conditions are ensured for education of children and their growth as a healthy citizen. The parliamentarian also noted that over 1 million Azerbaijani citizens have been displaced from their native lands and thousands of educational institutions have been destroyed as a result of Armenian invasion of 20 percentage of Azerbaijani territories.

Then ITUAEE Republican Committee signed bilateral cooperation agreements with Teachers' Union of Serbia, Malta Union of Teachers, Federation of Lithuanian Education and Science Trade Unions and Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of the Kyrgyz Republic. The agreements covered the following issues:

- protection of the social, economic and labor rights of education and science workers;
- development and strengthening of cooperation;
- increasing the role of trade unions in shaping the state education policy;
- improvement of the operation methodology of the trade unions and experience sharing;
- coordinating the positions of the parties to the agreement at local and international levels;
- combining efforts to increase the role of the trade unions in forming the state policy in education and science fields, coordination of activities and other issues.

According to Mehbaliyev, one of the issues that ITUAEE Republican Committee keeps its attention on, is the expansion of the international relations of the organization, building bilateral cooperation with trade unions operating in education sphere of different countries: “I believe that the friendly relations between our organizations will continue growing after bilateral partnership relations are built. Based on these agreements, we’ll conduct exchange of experience and inform each other about the developments in the lives of our organizations. As the ITUAEE team, we are ready to assist you in all your activities and to exchange experience."

In turn, the President of Teachers' Union of Serbia Branislav Pavlovic, the President of Malta Union of Teachers Kevin Bonello, the President of the Federation of Lithuanian Education and Science Trade Unions Ruta Osipaviciute and the Chairman of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of the Kyrgyz Republic Asilbek Toktagulov thanked Sattar Mehbaliyev for kind reception and hoped for further expansion of friendly relations between the organizations.
